Dr. Allen Williams, Ph.D., is a world‑renowned expert in regenerative agriculture, celebrated for his groundbreaking work in soil health, grass‑fed beef production, and adaptive grazing systems. As a sixth‑generation family farmer, Dr. Williams brings both heritage and innovation to the field.
Founding Leadership & Global Influence
He is a founding partner in Understanding Ag, LLC, the Soil Health Academy, Regenified, LLC, and Grass Fed Insights, LLC, and has also been affiliated with Joyce Farms. Through these ventures, Dr. Williams has impacted regenerative practices on millions of acres worldwide, consulting with more than 4,000 farmers and ranchers across the U.S., Canada, Mexico, South America, and beyond.
Academic Credentials & Career Transition
Dr. Williams earned his B.S. and M.S. in Animal Science from Clemson University, and his Ph.D. in Livestock Genetics (Reproductive Physiology) from Louisiana State University. He spent 15 influential years as a faculty member at Louisiana Tech University and Mississippi State University before transitioning to full-time regenerative consulting and farming in 2000.

Raised on family farms across Mississippi and Alabama, Chris channels decades of hands-on agricultural experience into guiding Etta Hills Farm’s mission to cultivate healthy ecosystems, biodiversity, and nutrient-rich food. Under his leadership—and alongside founders Dr. Allen Williams and James Triplett—Etta Hills Farm has emerged as a beacon of regenerative farming in North Mississippi, transforming former rodeo grounds into an 800-acre model of regenerative success.
Educational Background & Tech-Forward Mindset
Chris earned a degree in Business Information Systems from Mississippi State University, uniquely combining technical savvy with agribusiness acumen. This dual skill set drives his strategic decisions across operations, resource management, and sustainable scaling.
He also founded the Regenerative Ag Club at MSU—now the Regenerative Agriculture Collegiate Program—in partnership with Kiss The Ground, amplifying regenerative farming education across colleges and universities.
